MELISSA ETHERIDGE THE MEDICINE SHOW HER 15TH STUDIO ALBUM OUT TODAY
For Immediate Release – April 12, 2019 – Today, icon Melissa Etheridge releases her 15th studio album, The Medicine Show, out via Concord Records. Called “a stunning collection” by Forbes, who said the new album is “Etheridge at her best,” The Medicine Show tackles universal themes of pain and healing, balance and hope. Melissa explains, “Let’s open our consciousness and look at the last two years we’ve been living and talk about it one-on-one, talk about the similarities we all have,” she says. “That’s where you jump off into the album.”

On the eleven rousing tracks that comprise The Medicine Show, Melissa sings of renewal, reconciliation, reckoning and compassion. Highlights include “Faded By Design,” called “a proud declaration of resilience,” by Rolling Stone; “Wild and Lonely,” which Parade raved, “hearkens back to her 90’s hits;” “Shaking,” about national anxiety, “Here Comes the Pain,” about the opioid crisis, and album-closer, “Last Hello,” drawing on the courage shown by the survivors of the Parkland school shootings. For the record, Melissa was reunited with celebrated producer John Shanks (Keith Urban, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson), and it was recorded largely live in studio, capturing the raw emotion of the material.
In conjunction with the release of The Medicine Show, Melissa made notable appearances this week on Live With Kelly & Ryan (performing “Faded by Design” – watch here), as well as “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” alongside Chelsea Handler. On Saturday, April 13, she performs on CBS This Morning Saturday as part of their Saturday Sessions, and also sits down for a chat with host Anthony Mason about her career and new album (check local listings).
Currently on an expansive U.S. tour in support of the new album, Melissa will also be performing at the World Pride Closing Ceremony in New York City’s famed Times Square on June 30. Complete tour itinerary below, including select dates this summer with Pat Benatar & Neil Geraldo and Liz Phair.
